Colgate and Fordham, which made the FCS Playoffs last year, are the preseason favorites to win the Patriot League.
The Raiders, who reached the FCS quarterfinals, tallied 70 points and 10 first-place votes followed by the Rams with 63 points and three first-place votes.
Colgate, which finished 6-0 in the league last season to win its eighth title, returns quarterback Jake Melville (1,073 yards and 11 touchdowns passing), and running back James Holland (732 yards and 16 TDs) and linebacker Kyle Diener, the Patriot League Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
Fordham returns running back Chase Edmonds, the fourth leading rusher in FCS last season with 1,648 yards and 20 TDs, and quarterback Kevin Anderson (3,183 yards and 32 TDs passing).
Holy Cross, led by quarterback Peter Pujals, and Lehigh, led by quarterback Nick Shafnisky, tied for third in voting.
Rounding out the poll were Bucknell, Lafayette and Georgetown.
