Ohio State remained No. 1 in this week’s FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll but Saturday’s games – with plenty of upsets and the Buckeyes having to pull out the win at the end at Indiana – caused major shifts from No. 2 on down.
Ohio State again received the bulk of the first-place votes – 22 – but Baylor and Utah also received 4 votes. TCU’s manhandling of Texas moved the Horned Frogs up to No. 2 and Baylor’s thrashing of Texas Tech moved the Bears up to No. 3.
Joining the poll at No. 12 this week is Florida and Stanford. Georgia, walloped at home by Alabama, dropped out.
The pollsters consist of FWAA writers, College Football Hall of Famers, NFF Board Members and highly regarded collegiate administrators who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective as well as a diversity of viewpoints from the different roles associated with the game.
