NOS. 30-21 | Chattanooga’s Terrell Owens: Super Bowl ‘a once in a lifetime thing’

To commemorate the Super Bowl’s golden anniversary on Feb. 7, we compiled ASN’s 50 greatest NFL championship competitors of the past 50 years.

Two rounds of voting narrowed 100 nominees from ASN-affiliated schools to the final 50, then you ranked them. Today we reveal Nos. 30-21 in ASN’s Super Poll 50 — including Terrell Owens, who is also one of 15 finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2016.

“Not many are fortunate enough to make it (to the Super Bowl),” Owens told The Web Show’s Matt Lincoln via Skype. “When you get the opportunity, you definitely want to try to make the most of it.”

Owens did, catching nine passes for 122 yards in in Super Bowl XXXIX. But his Philadelphia Eagles lost to the New England Patriots, 24-21. Read his story and see where he ranks in the countdown.

ASN’s countdown continues next Friday with Nos. 20-11. The final 10 will be announced the week of Super Bowl 50 — two per day — culminating on Friday, Feb. 5, with Nos. 2 and 1.

On Feb. 6, we will announce the All-ASN Super Bowl team, the top vote-getters at each position.
