TCU’s struggles against Kansas State and Baylor’s domination of Kansas caused the two teams to flip-flop in this week’s FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll. Ohio State remained No. 1 after beating Maryland, 49-28.
TCU, ranked No. 2 last week, needed all it could get from quarterback Trevone Boykin, including a 69-yard touchdown run in the second half, to hold off upset-minded K-State, 52-45. Baylor meanwhile took over the second spot after manhandling winless Kansas, 66-7.
Utah’s steady climb up the poll was highlighted by their move from No. 6 to No. 4 after the Utes beat Cal, 30-24. Michigan entered the poll at No. 12 after blanking previously ranked Northwestern, 38-0.
The pollsters consist of FWAA writers, College Football Hall of Famers, NFF Board Members and highly regarded collegiate administrators who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective as well as a diversity of viewpoints from the different roles associated with the game.
