The two remaining undefeated teams in FBS made the FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll released today, but only one appears headed to the College Football Playoff.
Alabama (11-0) remained No. 1, followed by Ohio State and Michigan, who play Saturday to determine the Big Ten’s East Division champion.
That’s where the race for the four College Football Playoff spots gets interesting.
After Houston’s rout of Louisville, Clemson moved back to No. 4 followed by Washington. The Cougars, meanwhile, did not move into the Super 16. Florida and Florida State did while LSU and West Virginia dropped out.
Both Florida school moved ahead of No. 15 Western Michigan, also 11-0. The Broncos are the only Group of Five team in the Super 16. Along with Houston, Boise State and Navy also received votes.
The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective.
