Undefeated Iowa, the Big Ten’s West Division champion, moved up two spots to No. 4 and will play Michigan, Michigan State or Ohio State in the conference championship game on Dec. 5.
Clemson remained No. 1 while Alabama and Notre Dame both rose one spot, to Nos. 3 and 4 respectively. Oklahoma climbed two spots to No. 5 and Michigan State, which ended Ohio State’s 23-game winning streak, jumped three spots to No. 6.
Navy made its poll debut at No. 16 while Houston dropped out after a loss to UConn.
The pollsters in the Super 16 Poll consist of FWAA writers, College Football Hall of Famers, NFF Board Members and highly regarded collegiate administrators who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective as well as a diversity of viewpoints from the different roles associated with the game.
