UMass Lowell closed the regular season with a 3-1 victory against Boston College Friday on ASN, completing a series sweep of the Eagles. The River Hawks are tied with BC (29 points) for first in Hockey East. Both teams earned a first-round bye and home ice advantage for the best of three quarterfinal series on March 10-12
"We are very excited to get a sweep in Hockey East, that is very difficult to do no matter who you play," said Head Coach Norm Bazin. "They are a very good hockey team and I'm glad we could close it out."
The UML and BC could share the regular-season championship depending on Saturday's Boston University-Notre Dame finale. The Fighting Irish with 28 points can win outright with a victory at BU. The Terriers can share the title with UML and BC with a victory.
A tie will give Notre Dame a share of the title.
