Undefeated Clemson tops final FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll
The Tigers, the lone remaining undefeated team in the FBS, held off North Carolina 45-37 to win the ACC championship game on Saturday night. Michigan State scored in the final seconds to knock off previously undefeated Iowa, 16-13, to win the Big Ten championship game while Alabama cruised past Florida, 29-15, in the SEC title game.
Iowa fell to No. 7 while Stanford, which beat Southern California 41-22 in the Pac-12 championship game, moved up to No. 5. Defending national champion Ohio State, which only lost to Michigan State, was idle and remained No. 6.
Baylor, which lost to Texas, and Florida dropped out of the final Super 16.
The pollsters in the Super 16 Poll consist of FWAA writers, College Football Hall of Famers, NFF Board Members and highly regarded collegiate administrators who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective as well as a diversity of viewpoints from the different roles associated with the game.
