The ASN Eight: Providence maintains top spot in college hockey poll

The more things change, the more we flip flop on our Elite Eight. A least, the bottom five.

While Providence, Boston College and Qunnipiac remain 1-2-3, the next five rankings aren’t so easy.

UMass Lowell dropped from fourth to sixth despite earning a shootout overtime victory over Brown at the first Friendship Four tournament in Ireland, but that’s only because NCHC leaders St. Cloud State and North Dakota each swept — and red-hot Harvard moves back into eighth. Omaha now has five sweeps on the season and looks unbeatable at its new home.

The NCAA considers UMass Lowell’s overtime shootout win a tie.
