SUPER 16 POLL | College Football Playoff field taking shape
Alabama remained No. 1 in a likely preview of Tuesday's first College Football Playoff rankings of the season, followed again by Michigan, Clemson and Washington.
The top four in the final College Football Playoff rankings will compete in the national semifinals on Dec. 31.
At No. 5, Louisville leads a group of one-loss teams followed by Ohio State and Texas A&M.
LSU and Oklahoma returned to the poll. Boise State, which lost 30-28 to Wyoming, and Florida State, which lost to Clemson, 37-34, dropped out.
Western Michigan, the other remaining undefeated team in FBS at 8-0, finished outside the Super 16 but led the Group of 5 teams. Boise State, Wyoming and Navy also received votes
The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective.
