ICYMI: SEC needs OT again to overcome OVC

In cased you missed it Saturday, a Southeastern Conference team needed overtime to vanquish an Ohio Valley Conference opponent for the second time this season.

A month after Jacksonville State lost 27-20 to Auburn in overtime, Eastern Kentucky lost at Kentucky in overtime. The Colonels, who outgained Kentucky in rushing yards 180-55, led 27-13 in the fourth quarter before the Wildcats rallied for a 34-27 victory.

Meanwhile, Vanderbilt scored twice in the fourth quarter to hold off Middle Tennessee State, 17-13.


  • Harvard beat Georgetown 45-0 for its 17th consecutive victory, tied for the 12th-longest winning streak in FCS history. The Crimson goes for No 18 in a row against Cornell on Saturday at noon on ASN.

  • Liberty defeated FBS opponent Georgia State 41-33 with an interception to steal the win. It was the seventh victory by an FCS against an FBS opponent this season.

  • A dominant second quarter helped Eastern Michigan keep pace with LSU through three quarters, traling 30-22. LSU pulled away 44-22 behind Leonard Fournette's third consecutive 200-yard game.

  • Jacksonville State (4-1) piled up 494 total yards in a 49-7 victory against Mississippi Valley State, extending its school-record streak of consecutive games with at least 400 yards to 16.

  • Leading the way: Brown's Marcus Fuller passed for 438 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-31 victory against Rhode Island. ... Fordham's Chase Edmonds rushed for 234 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-7 victory against Lafayette. ... Yale's Deshawn Walter rushed for a career-high 233 yards with two touchdowns in a 27-12 victory against Lehigh. ... Dartmouth's Victor Williams caught 12 passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns in Dartmouth's 41-20 victory against Penn.

  • Aaron Golub, Tulane's long-snapper, made history on Saturday as the first legally blind player to play in an NCAA game.
