ICYMI: Conference clinchers for four schools

In cased you missed it Saturday:

  • Jacksonville State, the top-ranked team in FCS, won its second consecutive Ohio Valley championship with a 56-28 victory against Southeast Missouri State.

  • Meanwhile, Charleston South (Big South), Colgate (Patriot) and Chattanooga (Southern) also clinched conference championships while William & Mary clinched at least a share of the CAA  title.

  • Penn snapped the third-longest longest winning streak in FCS history at 22 games with a 35-25 win over Harvard. The Quakers tied for first in the Ivy League with the Crimson.

  • It was a big day for Conference USA wide receivers. Old Dominion's Zach Pascal had 12 receptions for 145 yards and a touchdown in their 31-21 win over UTEP. Middle Tennessee wide receiver Richie James surpassed 1,000 yards receiving this season, making him just the second player in school history to do so.

  • Middle Tennessee wide receivers weren't the only ones in the spotlight on Saturday — quarterback Brent Stockstill made school history with over 3,000 yards passing this season. Stockstill also passed for his 23rd touchdown to move himself into a tie for the single-season touchdown passing list with Dwight Dasher (2009).

  • Chase Litton extended his Marshall freshman record of TD passes with his 19th. Old record of 15 held by Chad Pennington and Rakeem Cato.

  • Midwestern State won the Lone Star Conference championship Saturday on ASN, beating Texas A&M Commerce, 37-33. The game was won on a pick-six with 6:24 to go in the game.
