Hope springs eternal on Opening Day for Yankees hopeful Aaron Judge

Originally posted June 23, 2015

Get used to hearing the name Aaron Judge — a lot.

Rising swiftly through the New York Yankees’ farm system, Judge, a right fielder by trade, is one of the top prospects in minors. Add in the fact he’s 6-7, 275 pounds and can hit just about everything thrown his way, and Judge should be holding court at Yankee Stadium one day soon.

Yankees fans though, may have to wait a bit longer to see this top prospect in pinstripes. Struggling through spring training, Judge was officially sent back to minor-league camp midway through March when he struggled at the plate. According to NJ.com, manager Joe Girardi said the team wanted Judge to get regular at-bats and the decreased spotlight would help him.

"I think sometimes it's easier to get things going when you're not in this surrounding," he said.

Judge will start the season in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre with the hopes of taking over right field for the New York Yankees in 2017.

But that's next year.

With Opening Day upon us, we wanted to look ahead to the promise Opening Day engenders.
