Harvard trio leads ASN contingent into women's track finals
Led by freshman Gabrielle Thomas, seniors Paige Kouba and Autumne Franklin, Harvard paced the Ivy contingent in the championship. Thomas qualified third in the 200m with a time of 22:83. Kouba qualified fifth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:57.59 and Franklin qualified third with a time of 56:09 in the 400m hurdles.
Dartmouth senior Dana Giordano had the top time in qualifying for the 1500m with 4:13.18. Joining them will be Princeton senior Cecilia Barowski, who will go for the 800m title after finishing second in qualifying with a time of 2:03.50.
Other athletes advancing to finals this weekend from ASN-affiliated schools are Danielle Demas, a senior from Sam Houston State, who qualified for the 100m finals.
Marthaline Cooper, a junior from Winthrop, finished third in the women's hammer throw, behind Southern Illinois' DeAnna Price. Cooper had a toss of 65.21 meters, behind Price's 71.53.
