Men's Player of the Week | Trevor Olson, North Dakota
When it comes to postseason hockey, you don't have to be the team's leading scorer to be the hero.
Ask North Dakota.
Trevor Olson, who had five goals this season and eight in three years at UND, scored his third game-winner in the last four games to lift the Fighting Hawks to a 6-5 victory and NCHC playoff sweep of St. Cloud State.
The victory sends the Hawks to the Final Faceoff in Minneapolis next weekend and closer to defending their 2016 Frozen Four title. They will face Denver on Friday.
The goal, at 7:38 of sudden-death OT, gave North Dakota its 15th straight season of 20 or more wins.
"We're extremely proud of him," UND coach Brad Berry said of Olson. "He's a team-first guy and does all the right things here at the rink. He's a great teammate and it's great to see him have success, because whatever role he's given, he embraces it, and gives 100%."
