Boom! Sooners jump to No. 3 in FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll

Oklahoma, which appeared left in the Big 12 dust after a 24-17 loss to Texas on Oct. 10, now appears headed to the College Football Playoffs after rising to No. 3  in the FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll.

The Sooners, who blasted Oklahoma State 58-23 on Saturday night to win the Big 12 championship, follow No. 1 Clemson and No. 2 Alabama, which also won rivalry games.

Notre Dame, which had been No. 3, fell to 10th after a 38-36 loss to Stanford. The Cardinal moved up six spots to No. 7, behind No. 6 Ohio State. The Buckeyes moved up two spots after a 42-13 victory against Michigan.

Michigan State, which beat Ohio State last week week and advanced to the Big Ten championship game with a 55-16 victory against Penn State on Saturday, moved up to No. 5 behind Iowa. The Hawkeyes and Spartans meet for the conference title on Dec. 5 and likely spot in the CFP.

The pollsters in the Super 16 Poll consist of FWAA writers, College Football Hall of Famers, NFF Board Members and highly regarded collegiate administrators who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective as well as a diversity of viewpoints from the different roles associated with the game.
