Back with a vengeance, RMU’s Brittany Howard earns Women's Player of the Week honors

Brittany Howard was lost to injury last season, but the redshirt junior ended 2016 making up for lost time in leading Robert Morris to a year-ending sweep of Brown with back-to-back three-point games.

Howard tallied the second hat trick of her career in the series-opening 5-1 win and added another goal and two assists in the 5-3 win on New Year’s Eve to be named the ASN Women's Player of the Week.

Howard is two points shy of becoming the school’s all-time assists leader and effort on Saturday helped RMU coach Paul Colontino notch his 100th career victory at the school.

The Colonials are ranked ninth in the USCHO poll with a 14-1-5 record.

Howard’s return has made a big impact this season. She has posted a point in 18 of 20 games, including the last 10, and she and linemates Amber Rennie and Jayce Gebhard have combined for 81 points.

Howard’s 13 goals lead the team. She leads the team with 34 points on the season and two years ago she led the Colonials with 41 points and was a member of the All-USCHO Rookie Team, All-CHA Second Team and All-CHA Rookie Team.

Robert Morris returns to College Hockey America play on Jan. 13 -14 for a two-game series against Lindenwood.
