Another Monarch, Zach Pascal, reigns as ASN's FBS Player of the Week

Old Dominion's Zach Pascal, who caught 11 passes for 231 yards and three touchdowns — all career highs — in a 37-34 Conference USA victory against Charlotte, won ASN's FBS Player of the Week. He garnered 781 votes, the second most in FBS voting this season behind ODU teammate Ray Lawry (1,015 in Week 1).

Pascal, a junior wide receiver, caught an 11-yard touchdown with 2:18 remaining to cap the Monarchs' rally. His 231 yards were the second-most in school history, and he finished with 303 all-purpose yards, third in school history.

The Citadel's Dominique Allen won FCS Player of the Week.

The FBS nominees included Western Michigan's LeVante Bellamy, Bowling Green's Matt Johnson and Western Kentucky's Anthony Wales:

  • Bellamy, a freshman all-purpose player, finished with a career-high 149 yards rushing and one touchdown on only nine carries in a 49-14 rout of Ohio. Western Michigan rushed for 430 yards to remain one of three undefeated teams in MAC play. Honorable mention: Redshirt freshman running back Jamauri Bogan had 135 yards rushing and one touchdown on nine carries.

  • Johnson, a senior quarterback who was added to the Peyton Manning Award watch list last week, passed for five touchdowns for the second consecutive game in a 59-10 MAC victory over Akron. He also caught a pass for 16 yards. Johnson leads FBS in passing yards after throwing for 357 yards on 25-of-30 passing and is tied for third with 24 touchdown passes.

  • Wales, a junior running back, gained 259 total yards and scored three touchdowns in a 55-28 victory against North Texas, giving the Hilltoppers (6-1 , 4-0 Conference USA) their best start since joining FBS in 2008. Wales rushed 193 yards — the most this season by a C-USA player in a conference game and by a Hilltoppers running back — and two TDs. It was his second consecutive 100-yard game.
