10 things we learned from C-USA football media day

This is the year of the running backs in Conference USA.

That was the consensus of coaches Wednesday at C-USA Football Media Day at ASN studios in West Palm Beach.

Only two of last season's top five passers return while six of the top seven rushers are back, including conference leader Devon Johnson of Marshall. He rushed for 1,767 yards for the second consecutive season last year despite missing three games.

"He's like a tight end playing running back," said Western Kentucky linebacker Nick Holt in one of the day's memorable quotes.

Meanwhile, one of the 10 things ASN's Doug Chapman and Monica McNutt learned from media day is that Popeye's chicken doesn't last long in a room full of college football players. Watch above.
