ICYMI: LA Tech’s Kenneth Dixon sets NCAA record for career TDs


In case you missed it this weekend:

  • Louisiana Tech’s Kenneth Dixon set the NCAA record for career touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 47-28 victory against Arkansas State in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. Dixon’s fourth touchdown of the game with 10:52 remaining pushed his career total to 87 — 72 rushing, 15 receiving.
  • Jacksonville State is headed to the FCS championship after their 62-10 semifinals victory over Sam Houston State. The Gamecocks will face the four-time defending FCS champion North Dakota State in the championship game on Jan. 9 in Frisco, Texas. Troymaine Pope has  665 yards and eight touchdowns rushing in JSU’s three playoff games.
  • In men’s basketball Saturday on ASN, Georgia State scored a dominant win over Conference USA’s Southern Mississippi, 66-46. The Panthers went 22 of 23 from the free throw line and kept the Golden Eagles fighting until the end.
  • UAB men’s basketball picked up its fifth consecutive victory against South Florida, 79-68 on the road.
