Gordie Jones is a veteran freelance sportswriter who lives in Lititz, Pa., in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country. He doesn’t own a horse-drawn buggy, but he has developed a taste for Shoo-fly Pie while maintaining an interest in Philadelphia-area teams.
A New Jersey native and graduate of Gettysburg College, he has been covering sports in the City of Brotherly Love since 1980. That means he has actually seen the 76ers when they were championship contenders -- notably during the days of Julius Erving, and at times when Charles Barkley and Allen Iverson were in town.
He has also co-authored two Sixers-related books, one of which was released in 2007, the other 2014, and is a regular contributor to several media outlets.
He and his wife Barbara are parents to a son, Ryan.
