The champ is in Boca Raton.

Florida Atlantic Head Coach Charlie Partridge welcomed the coaching staff of Ohio State to his Boca Raton campus Wednesday.

The coaching staffs partnered up to host a satellite camp to help high school athletes.

While also hoping to entice recruits to choose FAU.

Another marker in Florida Atlantic’s growing history.

Those are the words that Partridge used to describe Wednesday’s camp – an opportunity to bring Urban Meyer and the Ohio State coaching staff to campus.

“We both built a program we want to be a part of,” said Partridge Wednesday before the camp began.  “And they’re reigning national champs, and to have them be on our campus is a big deal.”

Hundreds of high school football players from all over South Florida came to Boca Raton Wednesday to learn from the Owl and Buckeye coaching staffs.

But the road goes two ways –  the players get to see the coaches, and the coaches get to see the players.

“Any time you get the opportunity to get a young man on campus and they feel what we’re building, it’s a good thing. The biggest thing is they leave FAU’s campus and feel a positive experience.”

Meyer has built multiple programs, and won national titles at two of them.

Partridge believes he can follow Meyer’s path and build a winning culture at FAU.

Some of the building blocks might stepped onto the FAU campus for the first time Wednesday.

Partridge has a long time connection with Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Chris Ash – that’s what led to this partnership.

Partridge had his first long conversation with Meyer Wednesday morning, but he did not ask, and was not interested in asking, if Meyer’s Buckeyes were interested in playing his team.
