Division II football returns to ASN with at least 9 games this fall

ASN and NCAA Division II will once again join up to bring fans at least nine football games this fall, starting with Saturday, Sept. 3 when Tuskegee travels to Clark Atlanta for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff.

Division II games will also be shown on ESPN3 and WatchESPN as part of the new three-year deal. of the 22 games to be broadcast, 18 are lined up with four flex games for Nov. 5 and 12 to be determined later.

The 36 teams highlighted in the current 2016 TV schedule combined for 272 wins and 121 losses (a .692 winning percentage) last season. Of those teams, 17 appeared in the Division II playoffs, and 14 finished the 2015 season

ranked in the top 25 of the American Football Coaches Association Division II poll. All 18 games currently scheduled feature in‐conference matchups.

A highlight of the schedule includes defending national champion Northwest Missouri State hosting rival Pittsburg State on Oct. 29 at 3:30 p.m. Runner up Shepherd University will play host to Glenville State College on Oct. 8 on ASN as well.

In addition, Ashland University and Ferris State, both playoff teams in 2015, will face off on Sept. 24 on ASN.

Fans will get to see the debut season of West Florida when it plays its first home Gulf South Conference game against Florida Institute of Technology on Oct. 1.

“The schedule continues to feature some of the best teams in DII,” said Michael McBroom, incoming chair of the Division II Football Committee and director of intercollegiate athletics at West Texas A&M, “and it should make for great games for our audience and our local communities.”
