SUPER 16 POLL | Michigan's the new No. 2 after Ohio State's loss
That's how many FBS teams remain undefeated this season after Ohio State's 24-21 upset loss at Penn State, which shook up the FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll released today.
While Alabama remained No. 1, receiving all but one first-place vote, Michigan moved up to No. 2 past No. 3 Clemson. Washington moved up a spot to No. 4 to round out the top four teams in contention for the College Football Playoff.
Ohio State, which plays Michigan on Nov. 26 in Columbus, dropped to No. 6, behind No. 5 Louisville and ahead of No. 7 Nebraska. The Cornhuskers improved to 7-0 for the first time since 2001 after rallying for a 27-14 victory against Purdue.
Utah and Auburn made their debuts after Oklahoma and Houston dropped out. Boise State (7-0) is the lone Group of Five team in the Super 16, though 8-0 Western Michigan, Houston and Navy also received votes.
The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective.
