Coastal Carolina gets its spark from Anthony Marks

Fittingly, Anthony Marks scored the first run in Coastal Carolina’s first College World Series game.

Marks doubled in the top of the third inning and scored on Zach Remillard’s RBI double in CCU’s 2-1 victory against No. 1 Florida on Sunday night.

CCU (50-16) plays TCU on Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET with the winner advancing to the semifinals. TCU (48-16) beat Texas Tech, 5-3, in its CWS opener.

Marks has been the Chanticleers’ sparkplug all season. He thumped his chest after stealing second in the ninth inning of a tie game against LSU in the Super Regional. Then he set off a celebration when he scored on a single, sending CCU to its first CWS.
