Charlotte continues to honor former line coach Ratliff

Phil Ratliff was one of the first hires made by Charlotte head coach Brad Lambert when the 49ers started football. Ratliff, who was the 49ers offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator, died in early August after suffering a "cardiac event." He was 44.

"He played for us at Marshall and was a very intense player," Lambert told the Charlotte Observer when he hired Ratliff. "He will bring that intensity to the offensive line. He'll do a great job with the guys and will do a great job representing our university with his integrity and character."
