Cancer diagnosis created new opportunity for Murray State’s Zach Katzmann

ASN-Murray-State-Game-FactsZach Katzmann was a local kid recruited to play football close to home at Murray State. However, Katzmann was only able to participate on the field for one semester. Before semester number two, his world was flipped upside down when he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Today, he is still a part of the Racers program, just in a different capacity.

Katzmann says although his career was cut short, he has found a new appreciation for the game through the eyes of a coach. He is still battling cancer as some cells are still present in his lungs and neck, but he won’t let that stop him from continuing his new career path of becoming a coach.
