While Western Michigan lost 24-16 to Wisconsin in Monday's Cotton Bowl, the season was the most triumphant in school history.

The Broncos finished 13-1 and showed in their first major bowl appearance that they can play with the big boys.

They have come a long way since finishing 11-1 in 2013, P.J. Fleck's first season as head coach.

“They showed what Western Michigan football is all about and they showed the entire country why we were 13-0," Fleck said. "For all of 'they' who thought we didn't belong, we do belong.”

The Broncos finished 2-1 against the Big Ten, senior Zach Terrell set single-game and single season records for passing yards, junior Jarvion Franklin set the single-game record for rushing yards and Corey Davis became the FBS career leader in receiving yards and the MAC career leader in touchdowns.

Here's a recap of Western Michigan's season that belongs in the history books.
