Quinnipiac's Sydney Rossman, BC's Ian McCoshen net Hockey Player of the Week honors
McCoshen, a junior defenseman, had a hand in Boston College’s final four goals in a wild 5-3 victory over Boston University that saw the teams combine for five power-play goals.
The Florida Panthers’ draft pick (31st overall) had two assists before scoring the final two goals in the third period in the season’s first Battle of Comm Ave.
He added an assist on BC’s lone goal in Saturday’s 1-1 tie to cap a five-point weekend.
Through 22 games this season McCoshen has 5 goals and 7 assists. BC, ninth in the PairWise rankings, is 15-4-7. His previous best for points in one game was two, which he’s done six times in his career.
Rossman is leading the fourth-ranked Quinnipiac women’s team to one of its best seasons. The Bobcats swept Robert Morris 3-2, 2-0 over the weekend to run their unbeaten streak 17 games (14-0-3), second in the country only to unbeaten Boston College’s 23-game streak.
The junior’s 11 shutouts are tied with Wisconsin’s Ann-Renee Desbiens for the most in the nation, while Rossman, Desbiens and BC’s Katie Burt are tied for the nation’s lead in wins with 19.
Rossman had 14 saves in the 2-0 shutout and 20 saves in the 3-2 win.
Quinnipiac’s 17-game unbeaten streak is a school record. She has a .90 goals-against average and .948 save percentage for the season.
