SUPER 16 POLL | Upset Saturday shakes up the rankings

The two remaining undefeated teams in FBS made the FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll released today, but only one appears headed to the College Football Playoff.

Alabama remained No. 1, receiving all 45 first-place votes, while Western Michigan made its debut in a tie for 16th.

Michigan, Clemson and Washington rounded out the top four in last week's Super 16 but dropped after losing. However, Michigan remained in the top four after losing on a last-second field goal at Iowa.

Ohio State jumped from No. 5 to No. 2 setting up a showdown for the Big Ten's East Division championship on Nov. 26 in Columbus.

Clemson, which lost to Pitt, dropped to No. 5 behind Louisville. Washington dropped from fourth to seventh after losing to Southern California, which made its Super 16 debut at No. 14.

Western Michigan is the only Group of Five team in the Super 16, but Boise State also received votes.

The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective.
