NMSU's Siakam, GW's Washington named ASN players of the week

The basketball season is getting into the tasty and fun part of the schedule, helping prep everyone for that most American of holidays, Thanksgiving this week. So to give thanks for great performances, here are this week's men's and women's hoops players of the week as chosen by Mark Adams, ASN's lead college basketball analyst and Monica McNutt, ASN's reporter and host:

Pascal Siakam, New Mexico State

The 6-9 sophomore averaged 24.5PPG/13.5RPG in leading the Aggies to two wins this past week as they improve to 3-1. On Nov. 18 Siakam scored 30 points on 13 for 21 field goal shooting and hauled in 11 rebounds in a win 76-63 over Tennessee Tech. He followed that up on Nov. 21 against Mississippi Valley State with 19 points and 16 rebounds in the Aggies convincing 85-46 victory.
Caira Washington, George Washington
Her 23 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks helped propel the Colonials to a win over Grambling State. The Colonials are a marked squad, in the top 25 currently and picked to claim the A10 women's title. They return just about everybody including Jonquel Jones, which is why Caira Washington's contributions will be so  important. She will force teams to thoroughly examine their defensive schemes against the Colonials, double teaming Jones could be costly with Washington off to a strong start.
