Should win the conference: Rhode Island

Dark Horse: Rhode Island

Who else might get in: VCU, Dayton, George Washington

Why I chose Rhode Island: I believe Rhode Island and Dayton have the best chance to win, but of the two I choose Rhode Island. Sophomore E.C. Matthews lives for the big shot and the big moments and is one of the top 5 players in the A-10.  Head coach Dan Hurley’s team is peaking at the right time.  Dayton made it to the Elite Eight last year and VCU was an overwhelming favorite but the loss of Briante Weber in January may have been too much.

Should win conference: VCU

Dark horse George Washington, Dayton, Rhode Island

Who else might get in: Besides VCU and Dayton (due to their quality wins over Texas A&M and Ole Miss and no bad non-conference look for Rhode Island and Davidson to be under heavy consideration if they can advance to the finals of the A-10 tournament.

Why I chose VCU:  They have made the adjustment since losing Briante Weber.  However, the loss could hurt them in a three-game tournament environment.  In the end the experience and style that they play will pull them through.

Should win conference: VCU

Dark horse: Davidson

Who else might get in: Dayton as an at large bid. Rhode Island is on the bubble.

Why I chose VCU: VCU is tournament tough. Coach Shaka Smart has adjusted to the loss of Briante Weber. Treveon Graham is a tournament MVP candidate. VCU fans travel as well as anyone. Unique style tough to face on short prep. Hungry to break through once again into March Madness.

Should win conference: Davidson

Dark horse: Richmond

Who else might get in: Dayton, VCU

Why I chose Davidson: Steph Curry might win the NBA’s MVP award, while his alma mater will cut down the nets at the Barclays Center to earn the automatic bid and win their first ever A-10 title.
