ASN salutes Army’s Kevin Ferguson, SLU’s Jackie Kemph as Players of the Week

ASN-Kevin-Ferguson-POWKevin Ferguson, who averaged 23.5 points and 16 rebounds in leading Army West Point to a pair of victories, and Jackie Kemph, the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week who led Saint Louis to three victories, are ASN’s Basketball Players of the Week.

Ferguson (right) tallied 25 points and 13 rebounds against Holy Cross last Wednesday. On Saturday against Navy he posted 22 points with 19 rebounds, the most for the Black Knights in a single game since 1995.

The 6-10 senior center has six consecutive double/double games and the 14th in his career. Ferguson also racked up his fourth consecutive 20-point game.

Army (17-11, 8-8 Patriot League) has its most wins since 1977-78.

ASN-Jackie-Kemph-POWKemph (right) embodied a floor general with her efficiency in SLU’s three wins. She averaged just shy of 20 points, but her 11.1 assists in the three games turned heads.

She had a 3.67-to-1 assist to turnover ratio for the week for the Billikens (21-6, 11-3 A-10) are in a three-way tie for second place in the conference. Kemph is clearly a big reason for that success.
